Indexing conveyors: Electromagnetic brake or dynamic braking is recommended.

Decline conveyors: Electromagnetic brake is necessary.

Incline conveyors: Internal Mechanical Backstop (TB) device is required to prevent roll back of the belt. Manual Release Backstop (MRB) device can be used if periodically reversing of the belt is required. (Refer to:
    Rollback)

Reversible conveyors: For conveyors that require constant reversing of the belts or for conveyors that are difficult to track, a v-groove section A, B, C or D profile drum motor for v-guided belt is recommended. (Refer to:
    Belt tracking)

Variable speed conveyors: All Van der Graaf Drum Motors are manufactured to inverter duty specifications as standard. Due to the ability of the motor to be oil cooled rather than air cooled the drum motor can operate on frequencies as low as 6 Hz maintaining constant torque. (Refer to:
    Electric motor)
